feel like it’s been ages since you had some “you” time? it sometimes feels like you are at the bottom of the list, right? i think we’ve all been there: asked “why doesn’t someone else take care of me for a change?” or “why do i have to plan everything?” what became clear to me that is no one was going to offer to do it for me. i realized that you just need to decide now and again that it’s time for you dammit! i knew wha t kind of weekend away i’d love to have. i knew i’d enjoy a weekend that : -was within driving distance -took care of my meals -was near the ocean -gave me a chance to learn something new -had chances to be outside -had a vibe that was casual and comfortable and i could wear comfy yoga pants all weekend if i wanted to! -allowed me to be myself; sip some wine; enjoy my morning coffee with nothing i had to “get done” that day. unfortunately, i couldn’t find this magical weekend anywhere. so i created it myself. and i want to share it with you! you can be the one who gets pampered. you won’t have to prepare one single meal or do absolutely anything you don’t want to. and you can leave your to do list at home. i’m excited to share this retreat by the sea with you. i love this town and i love the location i’ve chosen for this retreat. i love my time alone and i love kicking back and having a glass of wine by the fire. can’t you just picture yourself here? however i can, i look for ways to share this town, this seaside, with everyone i know. i strongly believe that being by the ocean does wonders for one’s well-being and i also believe in the restorative power of a girls’ weekend away! so, here it is, the next retreat, loosely titled, “getaway by the sea”. this weekend retreat is designed to help you unwind and recharge. though there will be an itinerary of events, you can take whatever time you need to wander, nap, or sit on the flagstone patio, soaking up the sun. you will enjoy wholesome, quality food and comfortable surroundings at historic anderson house . i chose this as our venue because it’s unique. it is homey, uncomplicated, and overlooks the algonquin golf course, passamaquoddy bay, and the town of st. andrews. you’ll find many sunny, cozy corners and comfy couches where you can gather for a glass of wine or curl up with your morning coffee. the creative workshops, whether a sip and paint or another type of art/craft session, are often the biggest hit of any retreat weekend. it’s not often we get a chance to leisurely play and learn in a such an encouraging and laid-back environment. when’s the last time you had a chance to express your creativity? our two guest instructors, colette carrier of little blue house by the bay and shelley rankin of rankin photography are creative masters of their respective crafts. you will come away from this weekend with your own skills, but also with a home decor item you’ll have created yourself! an example of what colette will be helping us create is to the left. using whatever camera you have with you that weekend: a dslr, point and shoot or even your phone, shelley’s creative tips apply to them all. as the saying goes “the best camera you have is the one in your hand”. as an added bonus, shelley has kindly offered to take bookings for on-site personal portraits that weekend. please head to her website for a look at her work. normally a value of approximately $150.00, she’s doing these mini-sessions for only $50.00. how many of you would like a great, professional photo of yourself?
